Black Comedy - October 2017
The next production to be tackled by The Castle Players is Peter Shaffers' Black Comedy. This is a one-act farce that was originally produced in 1965 by the National Theatre with an all star cast including Derek Jacobi, Albert Finney and Maggie Smith.
Black Comedy sees the directorial debut for Castle Players member, Dawn Trevor as part of our New Directors initiative. It's an important scheme that sees us investing in new talent for the future. Last years production of Journey's End directed by Steven Bainbridge, the first to go through the process, was an acclaimed success.
Black Comedy follows the evening of Brindsley Miller, a hopeful sculptor and is set in the 1960's in London. The evening should be a roaring success as a millionaire art critic is due to appear to view his work, but when a fuse blows and plunges the apartment into darkness, chaos ensues.
Black Comedy will be performed at The Witham, Barnard Castle at 8pm on Friday 27th October and Saturday 28th October 2017 and tickets can be bought from The Witham website.
