We are always thinking ahead here at The Castle Players, so we are very excited to announce the productions that will fill our Autumn and Winter slots this year.
New Director Initiative - November 2018
Our third New Director is going to be Laura Shaw who joined us last year and made her debut onstage in our summer production of Twelfth Night as Malvolia. Laura has chosen "Flare Path" by Terence Rattigan which was written in 1941 and first staged in 1942. Set in a hotel near an RAF Bomber Command airbase during the Second World War, the story involves a love triangle between a pilot, his actress wife and a famous film star. The play is based in part on Rattigan's own wartime experience.
More details about the first open meeting and subsequent audition process will be released once our summer production of Macbeth is over. Make sure you're signed up to our mailing list to be the first in the know.
Winter Tour - Jan/Feb 2019
As part of our community theatre ethos, we will once again be bringing drama to village halls and theatres around the Teesdale area. On the back of an incredibly successful run featuring Pride & Prejudice, Victorian Values and Oliver Twist, we are delighted to welcome Laurence Sach back to direct J.B. Priestley's "When We Are Married".
First performed in 1938, this comedy, set in Yorkshire, features a group of three couples who are old friends and all married on the same day in the same chapel. Gathering to celebrate their silver anniversary, they all discover that they are not legally married. Again, more details about this production will be posted towards the end of the summer.
